# API Usage Guidelines

> Rules and responsibilities when accessing the ER:LC Russia API, including prohibited actions, token security, and community standards.

Using the ER:LC Russia API comes with a number of obligations. Whether you're building a Discord bot, a business website, or any other integration, you must strictly follow these rules to maintain API access and protect our community.

## Scope of Support

**We provide technical API support exclusively to developers who have direct access to their code**. If you are building a product for end users (e.g., a bot for other servers or your business), you are responsible for supporting them yourself. The ER:LC Russia development team will not resolve issues for users who are simply using your service.

## Prohibited Actions

<Danger>
  The following actions are **strictly prohibited** and will result in **indefinite revocation** of API access (token blocking), as well as potential bans on our game servers and Discord:

  * **Nuking, raiding, or crashing** servers and Discord channels with your application.
  * **Abusing commands and bugs** of our API.
  * **Impersonating** other players, project administration, or developers.
  * **Spreading disinformation**, false information, or leaking confidential data.
  * **Threats and blackmail** of users in any form.
  * **Spam, flooding, and DDoS attacks** on API endpoints or related services.
  * Any other destructive actions performed with malicious intent.
  * **Non-compliance with the [official ER:LC API Rules](https://apidocs.erlc.gg/policies/aups)** when integrating our API for ER:LC.
</Danger>

### ER:LC Russia Community Rules

The API must not be used for actions that violate the ER:LC Community Rules. They are available [**at this link**](https://wiki.erlcrussia.com).

## Data and Access Key Security

You are fully responsible for the security of your API keys, authorization tokens, and any data returned by the API.

* Do not publish keys in public repositories (GitHub, GitLab, etc.).
* Do not leave them in client-side code (frontend) where any user can copy them.
* If your key has been compromised or leaked, **immediately notify us via a Discord ticket**. Ignoring a leak or failing to notify administration in a timely manner may result in **indefinite blocking** of your API access.

## Optimization and Load

If your service handles a large volume of requests, you are required to implement adequate **data caching**, **rate limiting**, and **proper error handling (e.g., 429 Too Many Requests)**.

We reserve the right to temporarily or permanently restrict access for any application that overloads the server, blocks the Event Loop, degrades infrastructure performance, or poses a threat to project stability.

## Reporting Vulnerabilities

If you discover a critical error, a bypass exploit, or a security vulnerability affecting the ER:LC Russia API or its backend, immediately report it via a Discord ticket or email [**pancakeboyman\_8@erlcrussia.com**](mailto:pancakeboyman_8@erlcrussia.com).

<Warning>
  **Public disclosure of vulnerabilities before they are fixed is strictly prohibited and is considered a malicious action.**
